Committed to serve the Genomic Medicine community worldwide.
– Darrol J. Baker, Director
Dear colleagues,
The Golden Helix Foundation was established almost at the time when the 1st draft of the human genome sequence was completed. Today, after almost 15 years from its establishment, the Golden Helix Foundation has grown significantly to become a global research organization with strong partnerships in many parts of the world, particularly in regions where genomics research and its implementation into the clinic is still in its infancy.
This solid performance was encouraged by the commitment and tireless contribution of the members of the International Scientific Advisory Council, which was lately expanded by the addition of two new members from Latin America to emphasize the vision of the Foundation to enhance its presence and activities to this part of the world.
The Foundation continues to be actively engaged in multicentre research projects, some of which have already been completed, while others are ongoing or about to start. These activities are always related to the implementation of genomics into the clinic. In addition, the various educational activities have continued to evolve, with Golden Helix Conferences® being organized in various parts of the world, particularly in the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific, in close partnership with the Foundation’s Regional Centres. The Golden Helix Academy is also an integral part of the Foundation’s educational activities, aiming to enrich genomics knowledge to interested healthcare professionals.
Behind our success is a great team of people guided by shared values and focused on closely working together. Building these deep, long-term relationships with other colleagues and collaborators enables supporting them to overcome difficulties and establish partnerships and research networks, many of which have already yielded tangible deliverables.
The Golden Helix Foundation’s culture has been a key source of ongoing strength and, at the same time, inspiration. Protecting, maintaining and reinforcing this culture is a shared responsibility, and one that everyone at Golden Helix Foundation takes very seriously, starting from the Foundation’s leadership, and extending to every colleague and partner.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank our colleagues and collaborators for their dedication. Also, special thanks are due to the members of the Scientific Advisory Council for the valuable assistance over these years. Last but not least, I want to express my gratitude to the various sponsors that have supported our Golden Helix Conferences over the years.
We are confident we will continue to grow and excel for many years to come.
