The 2014 Golden Helix Symposium was co-organized in Belgrade Serbia, October 30th – November 1st, 2014, by the Golden Helix Foundation, jointly with the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering. This international conference marked the official launch of the Genomic Medicine Alliance and the 1stGenomic Medicine Alliance – Public Health Genomics Prize, awarded to the work of Chondrou and coworkers, entitled “Differential molecular profiling of human hematopoietic tissues during human ontogenesis: Implications for -type hemoglobinopathies therapeutics”. This award is a joint initiative of Genomic Medicine Alliance and Karger, through its scientific journal Public Health Genomics, the Alliance’s official journal.
This meeting was attended by over 250 registered speakers and participants from over 20 countries.
Next year, the Golden Helix Symposia travel to Asia, specifically in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the forthcoming 2015 Golden Helix Symposium (March 11-13, 2015), which will mark the official partnership of the Genomic Medicine Alliance and the Southeast Asian Pharmacogenomics (SEAPharm) Consortium.
